Goblin: The Lonely and Great God

I see scenes of Goblin everywhere on the internet and have watched few trailers but it didn’t wow me enough to watch it. But after so many raves about the drama, yeah, sure why not? Might as well see what the rave is about. I am a big fan of Kim Go-Eun after “Cheese in the trap” so I am expecting great acting from her, but it was the plot that seemed a bit off. But who am I to judge without even giving it a chance first.

Synopsis:

Lets go back in time, thousand and thousand of years ago, there once lived a general called Kim Shin (Gong Yoo), but the king did not appreciated his strength and was jealous, therefore killed him. However, it caused him to be a Goblin instead, giving him immortal life.

Back in the present time, where Kim Shin has waited for 900 years for a human bride to end his immortal life. He saved a pregnant woman that was destined to die, the grim reaper (Lee Dong-Wook) could not find the pregnant woman. Moreover the woman gave birth to a baby girl called Eun-Tak (Kim Go-Eun).

Eun-tak is able to see ghosts and the night that her mother dies, she meets the grim reaper. After her mother’s death, she lives with her auntie and is mistreated. Even on her birthday they did not celebrated it, Eun-Tak goes to the sea and blows out the candles that are on her birthday cake. Every time she blows out the candles, Kim Shin comes out against his will.

Eun-Tak is the destined Goblin’s bride and Kim-Shin needs her to end his immortal life, which became a curse to him.
